FAQs

I’m Here for You

What is reiki?

Reiki is an energy healing technique developed by Dr. Mikao Usui in Japan.  Although this form of energy work has only been around since the early 1900s, the Chinese have used energy medicine for thousands of years.  Reiki balances the body's energy centers (chakras) promoting it's ability to heal.  It involves the practitioner placing their hands lightly on or hovering above the body in order to channel energy from the universe to the recipient.  It has helped with such issues as pain, stress, anxiety, depression, headache, PTSD, weight loss, insomnia, and addictions.  It can be used on humans and animals.  It is not meant to take the place of your physicians advice.  It is a complimentary therapy and should be used in conjunction with your doctor's plan of care.

Do you help treat terminal or chronic illness?

Reiki helps alleviate the symptoms that arise from chronic or terminal illness.  It can also be used in palliative care to assist with the transition from life to death.

How should I prepare for my first treatment?

You should arrive a few minutes early to fill out an intake form and discuss your goals for reiki therapy.  Wear comfortable clothing.  There is no need to disrobe as with a massage.  I would recommend not using alcohol or other psychoactive substances for 24 hours prior to therapy.
